GCWS welcomes everyone! Artists of all skill levels are welcome to become GCWS members. We strive to provide unique value to our members here in South Florida.

We invite creativity in watermedia. Watercolors, acrylics, gouache, casein, egg tempera, and mixed watermedia are accepted into our exhibitions. Read the prospectus for more details.

We accept watercolor paper, Clayboard, Aquaboard, Ampersand and synthetic surfaces ( YUPO, tiger rag), illustration board  and gallery wrapped canvas, and wood or canvas panels, encouraging a wide variety of artistic expression.

Benefits of a Membership

Your membership brings many advantages! If you are a lover of art and want to meet like-minded people, we are the right group for you. GCWS and its volunteers have been offering educational opportunities, exhibitions, and the largest cash prizes, attracting the top artists in South Florida for close to 50 years. Many benefits are available to everyone, while several are reserved just for our members.

Workshops

GCWS host workshops taught by prominent, nationally known artists / instructors during our season from Oct – May. Members receive a discounted fee to attend these great learning experiences.

E-News

Our popular newsletter keeps you up to date and informed. E-news is filled with information on our workshops, exhibits, upcoming events, member accomplishments, and much more.  Distributed Sept-June each year.

Life Studies & Paint Outs

Our artists gather from October thru April for in-person Life Studies with unclothed and clothed models. You can join our outdoor painters throughout the year as we enjoy camaraderie and share the fulfillments of our paint outs.

General Meetings

October through May we feature well-known artists to demonstrate various forms of watermedia painting techniques, and materials at our general meeting.

Annual Flea Markets

Each season at one or two monthly meetings we offer our flea markets of new and used donated art supplies.  We use the money to support Young at Art Museum’s Summer Art Camp each season. It is a great way for the kids to get some art in their lives. We have become the group that families come to when they have their loved one’s studio supplies to donate. It is a fun way to try new products cheaply and then donate back what you don’t use anymore.  It is a very popular event and is anticipated each season by members and artists around town.

Many GCWS members are also talented workshop instructors who regularly offer workshops and classes in a variety of locations.
